ABOUT US

Born from real experience in the field.

Our lead inspector Adam is a third-generation excavation and paving contractor. From a young age he was around heavy equipment and commercial trucks every day. Eventually he took over the family business as sole owner and operator, then began buying and selling equipment on his own. After years of attending auctions, Adam had plenty of successful purchases. He also bought machines that looked good in the catalog and turned out to be major disappointments. Like so many others, he experienced the frustration of driving 3 to 5 hours or more (plus hotels and lost time) only to discover the equipment was worn out or didn't meet his standards.Knowing that many others shared in the frustration of lost time and money from the auction process, Adam could see there was a need. Bidders should have access to more information than auction catalogs provide. This is when the idea for Bidwise Auction Inspections was born. The vision was simple. For about the cost of gas to drive to a single auction, bidders could get access to the true condition of machines from multiple auctions, without ever leaving home. We attend the major auctions so you don't have to. Our team performs inspections and delivers clear reports with photos, and detailed, honest condition notes. All available before the auction date. Our goal is simple:
Help you know ahead of time which auctions and machines are actually worth your time and money, and which ones you can skip. When we show you a list of machines that are in very poor condition, you can skip right over them to the ones that fit your needs.
We also help you discover quality equipment you might have otherwise missed and share practical insights on bidding practices and common pitfalls to watch out for.At Bidwise Auction Inspections, we're committed to providing tremendous value through honest, high-volume reporting so you can bid with confidence and avoid costly mistakes. We hope to exceed your expectations with every report.

BENEFITS

What you get with every report.

the auction doesn't tell you the true condition of equipment.but now you have access to that info here

Independent Inspections

We don't bid at auctions, or sell equipment, and we are not affiliated with auction houses. We work for you, and provide honest condition reports from the yard.

Save Time and
Travel

As you know, there are usually several auctions happening the same day or weekend. Which leaves you having to pick and choose. Why do you skip an auction? Likely because you expect it to not be worth your time and travel. But we can be there on your behalf for very little cost. You can use our inspection reports to view auction inventory before the auction and decide which are most worth your time. Even auctions you may not have otherwise bid at.Once onsite, you can skip the machines you have deemed unfit by our report, and focus on the ones you would bid on. This can save a lot of travel as well as time onsite. All of the saved time allows you to work much more efficiently, which should lead to you buying more deals.

Don't miss out

One of the more frustrating situations for a bidder is to see a machine selling for a deal that they had not previously seen.We try to inspect as many of the more popular machines as possible, so even if you missed it ahead of time, we may have an inspection report available on that machine, even during the live auction. Our hope is that our inspection reports prevent this situation all together.By allowing you to view a large number of machines ahead of time, less machines will slip through the cracks. Our price per machine is so low, in hopes to allow you to do so.

Increase your sales

All of these benefits add up to you being able to buy more deals. You will find the auction process much more streamlined and productive, with the use of our inspections. We hope we have the opportunity to be your partner onsite at auctions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions buyers ask before they subscribe.

How quickly will I receive inspection reports?

Reports from each auction are available in the days leading up to the auction date. Usually 2-4 days before the sale. This allows you the time to review condition notes and decide which lots and/or auctions to attend and do your own due diligence and bid.

What's included in each report?

Photos, and detailed, honest condition notes captured at the auction yard. We focus on the details that matter to bidders such as wear, function and overall condition.

Which auctions do you cover?

Most major auctions east of the Mississippi River. You can view
the upcoming auction schedule under the auction schedule tab. After sign up, you can request auctions beyond our listed schedule of auctions.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Packages are month to month and you can cancel from your account at any time.

What if a report doesn't match my needs?

Inspections reflect our professional opinion based on direct observation at the auction yard. We always recommend conducting your own due diligence before placing any bid.

Welcome to
"how to find & bid at auctions"

Thanks for grabbing the guide.
Everything you need to start finding auctions and placing bids is right here.
The video below has most of the info you will need, but there is a large amount of helpful info written below as well, including auction house info.

Online Bidding platforms

There are several ways to bid at auctions.
The best way is onsite, in person if possible.
This allows you to pay the least amount of fees as well as to see the equipment you're bidding on at the same time you bid.If you attend an auction in person, they have a simple registration process onsite to allow you to bid. However some auctions only allow online bidding, and sometimes your schedule may give you no choice but to do so.Below is a list of the most popular online bidding platforms.

  • Proxibid

-The largest bidding platform. Almost every auction house allows you to bid on their auction inventory through proxibid.-Fees: Proxibid usually charges a fee of at least 2% of your winning bid amount. This can be even higher and you will want to read the details under the terms tab on proxibid, before bidding.-Website: www.proxibid.com

  • Equipment Facts

-A similar experience as Proxibid. However, Proxibid hosts auctions for many categories. Where as Equipment Facts focuses on just equipment and construction/farming etc. related auctions.-Fees: Equipment Facts intails the same fees as described for Proxibid and you will want to verify the amounts before bidding.-Website: www.equipmentfacts.com

  • Ritchie Bros

-Ritchie Bros hosts the bidding for their own auctions. If you want to bid at their auctions, you must sign up to bid, on their website or app.-Fees: There are no additional fees to bid, using their online platform.-Website: www.rbauction.com

Auction houses may also have their own online bidding platforms as well, that may have less fees. You can find these options on the auction houses websites.

Some of the most popular auction houses, that have auctions regularly, and in no particular order

  • Mcgrew Equipment Auctions

They usually have just about everything you can imagine, with a wide variety of price ranges.-Bidding style: Onsite live and Online-Bidding/Buyer Fees: Usually as follows -

For each unit $1- $5,000, = 12.5%,
For each unit $5,001- $55,000, = 10%,
For each unit $55,001.00 and above, = 5.99%.
Exact amounts can vary by auction and can be found in the description of each auction. Extra fees may be charged depending on your payment type. Any fees charged by bidding online will be in addition to the above fees.

Things to be alert for

  • Fees

As described above, fees vary by auction, and can be charged in many different ways. Fees are in addition to your winning bid amount. Therefor you should calculate your max amount you want to pay including fees before you bid, in order to know your proper bid amount.

  • Sales tax

Sales is almost always charged on your auction purchase. The sales tax amount depends on the auction location. And sometimes, depending on your trucking arrangements, can be charged either, where it was purchased, or where it is being delivered.
Sales tax is charged by the state, but you can also often be charged a local tax as well. It is important you know these amounts before bidding.

  • Payment type

You may be charged extra fees based on how you pay for your winning bid.
For example, Credit card payments usually have at least a 3% fee, and often have a limit of how much you can pay with the card. These amounts vary by auction and you should verify the amount before bidding. The info should be in the auction description along with the rest of the fees.

  • Equipment Condition

An auction catalog that shows you the machine, along with year, make, model, etc. DOES NOT inform you of issues the machine. There is a large danger in the auction process of buying machines with defects and issues. Most auctions will allow you on their yard to inspect the machine and operate it in a confined area.If you do not feel confident in doing so, we offer inspection services for as little as $18 per machine. You can find info on this on our website.
